Beatty Trail Work Wednesday 8/21

Print Post
Hey folks,

This Wednesday 8/21, aka tomorrow...

Since the trail is trashed were going to be working on it and fixin' her up real nice...

Meet at the back parking lot near the pond/pedal boats at 4:45pm. For those coming later...walk up the gravel road past the pond, hang a right and walk across the dam. Hang a left at the end of the dam and take your next right onto the trail. We will be walking it backwards. PM me if your coming and I'll give you my phone #

The plan is to groom "Randy's Section" starting at the dam and working backwards toward the Boy Scout Bridge for those of ya who know what that means. Or...

We will be working on drainage/smoothing out mud holes in preparation for the getting of wood... Cheesy

Either way, please come out and help. This trail sees more traffic than almost every other trail that the THTB's maintain. She's been getting rode hard and put up wet and needs folks to lend a hand.

Bring water, gloves, flat shovels, and axes. Thanks!

bahahaha Angry

Looks like were going to be chopping roots and buffing out trail on Randy's Section. I know you folks that ride Col. Beatty have been wanting some revenge on those roots so come out and help us! No experience necessary, just bring water, gloves, and something to chop/dig with. I will have a few extra root chopping implements for those who want to help. Thanks  Smiley

What part is Randy's section?  I swear I can't keep track of the names.  I know Turtle Cove and the Enchanted Forest.  What else is there?

Randy's Section is the section after the big wide wooden bridge(aka Boy Scout Bridge) before the gravel road all the way to the armored crossing at the dam (before the blown out section). Its a section of blue trail with a ton of roots and a few climbs. Its named after a guy named Randy that moved to Chicago. He used to help us on it.

Theres also the Valley Trail(black diamond) and Chigger Hollow(black diamond option with the OTF's)

The section after the first road crossing starting from the tennis courts before the Valley Trail entrance is called the 3 Amigos.

I think thats it. It helps knowing the names when theres an issue on the trail like trees or whatever. Way more specific and helps us locate it quicker.

Wha-happen'd? I got there at about 6:00 and no one was home. Looks like the rain chased you guys away - I saw some footprints in the dirt leaving the planned work site. I got some drains opened/ expanded and took out some offending roots. Saw 2 walkers, 2 runners and 1 rider who wouldn't even look at me .... (grrrrrrr)

I was leaving work to head that way and there were two accidents right outside of school.  It was crazy rain so I just figured it wasn't going down.
