Snapped 2 der. hangers in 3 months...on the road

First one snapped in late June, I believe, shortly after I was getting back to the bike post-accident.  About 9500 miles on the bike or so, and many bent hangers (which were bent back, of course) over the time I had it.  I figured it was fatigue.

After replacing the hanger, derailleur (it was pretty mangled), a few chain links, and truing the back wheel, it was mostly fine.  Well, aside from snapping a spoke last week. I took off the cassette and saw a few spokes had fought the chain and nearly lost during the hanger snapping.

This afternoon on my ride home from work I was having shifting issues, so I tried adjusting cable tension a bit at the twisty thing on the derailleur.  Went one way, shifted worse.  Okay, try the other way.  One shift and it snapped again.  Low speed, derailleur looks to be fine.  But definitely need a new hanger, a few chain links (which I thankfully have in my tool box), and a new bit of housing at the rear of the frame which I probably should've replaced last time.

I have 205 miles to go until I hit 10,000, but the bike just doesn't seem to want to get there.

Well, that's my venting for the day  Smiley

just reading you tab made me think,,just do it...that is awesome you are going for 10000 miles ....Keep it up right and don't stop...You break the derailur  on the rd and can't get an idea  then pull out 4 or five links and make it a single speed and just keep pedalling..Maybe more on the links but you get the idea....

might be time for some wheel love too if it has been kissed by the chain.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

I got a spoke replaced at Queen City last week but I don't think Bart had any more straight pulls in the size I need (for Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels I bought in December I bought after my old back wheel's hub nearly seized).  I'm calling them tomorrow to see if he can get me any more, and if not, I'll probably try Bike Source since they've treated me well and are also super close to work to make a lunch-break visit easy.

My body and this bike have been having a bad year.  I need to mountain bike more.

EDIT: forgot to mention in the OP that it did snap a spoke today as well.  Well, at least one.  Haven't been in the mood to check it out since a coworker gave me a ride home.
