Seriously?!?! This is the most absurd bedding in procedure I've ever seen!

The bed-in procedure, which should be performed prior to your first ride, ensures the most consistent and powerful braking feel along with the quietest braking in most riding conditions.
To safely achieve optimal results, remain seated on the bike during the entire bed-in procedure.
1)    Accelerate the bike to a moderate speed (approximately 19kmh or 12mph), then firmly apply the brakes until you are at walking speed. Repeat approximately 20 times.
2)    Accelerate the bike to a faster speed (approximately 32kmh or 20mph). Then firmly and suddenly apply the brakes until you are walking speed. Repeat approximately 10 times.
3)    Allow the brakes to cool prior to any additional riding.

All I ever do with Hopes is riding them around the parking lot and make 10-15 stops @ <10mph and they're good to go.  Good bit, good modulation and NO NOISE!!!

But, NNNNOOOOOOO.  Avid couldn't do THAT!   Roll Eyes

Rant over...

Did you get my message about the rear axle?  If not, it's in and I need to get the one you have back to Enoch.

Thanks!

Oh, and here are the brakes he speaks of...

You're just now figuring out Avids suck?  I gave you more credit than that.

Known it for awhile. Just hit frustration level "11" with them. Never seen a brake that makes so much damn noise!   Angry

How much longer do I need to ride this warranty set of Avids that you put on my bike before I can step up to the real deal in brake technology and performance?

Maybe it's your inexperience that's the problem. I run avid brakes with no issues whatsoever.  No noise. Plenty of stopping power.

I never said there weren't sets that were quite.  My experience has been there is a much higher rate of incidents of noise with Avid brakes compared to others.  Stopping power has always been good on Avids.  The noise has been the majority of issues.

Actually I have had more than enough experience with them.  I find them to be finicky and the bedding process ridiculous compared to almost every other brand.   Now the Codes have been the exception.  Rarely if ever get any noise from them.

Are they making noise or the levers acting funky like before?  You have a 2 year warranty on them. Smiley

No repeat issues other than the loose hose fitting that you repaired ... just a little Hope brake lust while the wrist is on the mend.

Followed Avid's bedding procedure so the noise is greatly reduced over the defective set. The noise does creep back in when the rotors get dirty.  Generally quiet after washing the bike.

Spray some WD40 on the rotors and noise problem solved  Wink Really tho I have jucy 5 on one bike and they  have been great except for some noise when they get dirty. Main thing is they always stop me when needed. I have jucy 7 on one of the other bikes and the modulation feels different...still stops tho.

Yah my 3's have worked pretty well for me, other than a freak bleed situation one time.  I've been happy with the relatively low cost brakes.

I used BB 7's for a couple years when I finally converted to discs. They were  OK, and a big improvement over the rim brakes. The break in for new pads was short. Wiped rotor with alcohol or acetone, and scuffed it with emory cloth and wiped again. After a short ride on something like the entrance at Fisher they would be OK. They were noisy after washing the bike but after a few applications they quieted down.
Went to the Shimano's because they work better than the mechanicals.
Probably need to put the BB7's on the market place. Do not see using them again.

LOL put it back in your pants guy.

I had some juicy 7's that were amazing- never a noise. I also have X0 trails on a few of my bikes that beat Zee and XT all day...

I just put some Elixir 7's on a bike and I have never been so close to ghost riding the bike in to traffic. NO stopping power in the rear- but quiet. Noisy and awful in the front with no modulation. Bed in procedure followed. Pads sanded, burned, clean streaked, alcohol'd, bled... nothing. Worst. Brakes. Ever. These fall into the category of WARRANTY big time.

The new Tech 3 levers look like a hybrid of the Tech EVO lever and their older levers.  Kinda nice to see them move away from the flip flop lever to something less bulky.  I've got a pair of the jockey wheels that I never used cause I went to XX1 and can't use them.  Let me know if you're interested.
