BYT SNOW RIDE

Print Post
Operating under the assumption that all the dampness will be/is frozen, I plan on riding BYT around 5:30pm.
If the trail isn't frozen, then the ride is off.
I plan on parking MD lot.
Blue Tacoma (like anyone else is going to be out there...)

So come on out and get a two-fer of a night & snow ride...

Anyone want to go earlier?  I can go nowish.  by 5:30 the cul-de-sac will be a few bottles of wine deep

EDIT:  I have not been out there yet today, but assume it is still frozen.

I won't to go but the roads out where I am are getting bad. Going to ride around on rocky river road later. The road out here was not treated at all! Have a good time and don't break anything including your necks. Dam I wish I lived in Charlotte during these times. I just might have to go out and snow ride a horse today!

I live about 6 miles from BYT and we've gotten a few inches so far.  Going out for an urban ride to scope out the roads since I haven't gone out yet today, I'll probably be going at least as far as South Meck high school and probably a little farther (which is about 3 miles away from BYT).  I'll report about the road conditions when I get back.

I'm gonna change my ride time to 6pm.
Need to let the kids play in the snow for a bit before I go and play.

6pm
MD

If you can get there...

Not trying to discourage anyone, but I want to let you know what you're in for.  This is on Route 51 about 1/4 mile from the I-495 exits.  I also took park road up as far as the Sharon Rd intersection (the Harris Teeter plaza close to South Meck) and it wasn't any better.

Traffic is very light and taking the mountain bike for a spin on the roads was quite fun for anyone that doesn't feel like driving today.

OK. Took the bike out for a spin. Can't do it without studs. Or the zip tie method...

Well, Bart and I braved about 1.5 miles of FB before we called it.
Zero traction and sleet was getting worse.
Attempt was made... Cheesy

Just got in.  It is a literal &^&^ storm out there what a fun time  took us 4 hrs to ride it, but worth every minute.  GREAT snow ride

You guys did this with plain 'old mtb tires? I rode the streets last night bar hopping and could do another other than straight lines

I had 2.3s down to 17PSI or so and was fine on the snow on the road, didn't encounter much ice. Today was awful, though.

Studs only help with ice, they do practically nothing in plain snow.

Sick gnarly fresh pow pow.

I think it's great you took the time to go drop the camera and then ride by it again. Too much fun!

Nice job Chris,

wooden feature and snow is a scarey mix.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

Seems like I remember you demonstrating this at PT a while back.
