The chains will help.  It might not keep everybody out but there are people who don't read the forums that will go out there and see that they are up and respect the trail and leave.

In my opinion, these trail coordinators put in countless hours, give up free time that they could be riding bikes or doing something else they enjoy to make sure the rest of us have a place to ride.  It should be their call to open the trail or not.  Doesn't make a lot of sense to have a bunch of other people determining the open closed status.  People who don't work on that trail may have a skewed judgement on what is too wet or not.

I don't ride backyard very often just because it is a long haul for me to get there but is has been my experience that more often than not the trails are opened while still to wet to ride than waiting to long to open.

This is just my opinion, take it for what its worth.

A road bike is the way to go when it rains every other day like it has been.

I had a meeting with the plant manager this morning. Greenway is going in soon and it looks pretty good to me with the parking and such. I also asked about chains and they will also be going up ASAP. Please respect Bob and his decision to open or shut the trail. Chains will go up in 2 places along with signs attached to them. Bob makes this call and only Bob at this time. I will be having another meeting next month to discuss plant expansion. We will loose about 4 to 5 miles at least but that is a long way off. My next meeting with CMUD I should know more by then. Again respect Bob and his decision. Thanks.

I am on the fence about getting a road bike because the one thing that "shouldn't" happen to me on my mountain bike is get hit by a car.  Cool

The best thing about wet trails is that I get to ride the road bike!  I highly recommend it for anyone who is anxious or "conflicted" about whether to ride "closed" trails.  I think it is just as fun and perhaps more fun in groups.

Ride to have fun and enjoy the scenery, not to set records…

Packed and ready to roll…
