Never could get into New Riders of the Purple Sage.  Really terrible band to me (even when I was experimenting with the wook lifestyle).  To each his own though.  I bet the overall event would be worth a visit, especially of the trails are open.

Back in the 70's after my Metal High School years, I took a liken to country rock. Started out with early Eagles, then discovered bands such as Gram Parsons & The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Sweetheart of the Rodeo Byrds, Poco ,Manassas, Firefall . Workingman's Dead ,though, blew me away. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite albums. So when I started studying more into the Dead, I found the riders. First 4 albums are really good. Never listened to much after that. They play a lot of festivals I attended with different line ups. And they always got a good Deadhead crowd. Now they tour with original Members David Nelson and Buddy Cage(John Dawson died in 2009) Their last two albums have songs penned by David Nelson and Robert Hunter. And are quite good for a nostalgia act. By the way, Funk Band Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Bird are on that bill, who are a good festival dance in the aisles band. And Muddy Water's lead Guitarist, Bob Margolin is playing an early show. If you like country music with heavy steel guitar though, be sure to check out the riders  Smiley
