I was just at beatty park on a ride and the bead on my front rim came unseated when I landed a jump.  Scrapped up my knee a bit, but nothing too aweful, but i wanted to take the time to give props to the man who helped me tremendously and ran my bike back to my car and let me hobble back with his.  I really appreciate it! I really enjoy being home in Charlotte the riders here and mountian bike culture is awesome here!  I have been out in raleigh before and had equipment failures and walked by at least half a dozen riders who never even yeilded much less stop there ride to help someone else out.

well its usually more of a dig ride eat ride sleep repeat, but for now it'll be scratching my head on how a maxxis tire bead tore.  Upon inspect inspection of the bead I noticed there's 2 sections where the belting/threads are torn on the bead its a little disheartening because the tire had awesome grip and minimal rolling Resistance but from reviews the Ignitor tire had mixed outlooks on its tubeless capabilities.  I am not too sure of the tires history because it came on the bike used so the previous owner could've used poor lever techniques and snapped it.  I guess you live and learn though, just really glad it was close to the parking lot, and that someone was out there and willing to help.   I checked out my knee a little more and noticed some blood on my chainring I assume the bike whipped around when I laid it down a bit and I caught the business end of the teeth.  Probs let it rest for tomorrow but I should be in good shape to do some trail work at the least Friday

Hope everything is ok man. Bummer to go down unexpectedly like that. If you do end up wanting to do a bit of trail work fri, i have a great little project you could tackle in about an hour and a half solo. Just let me know. Only needs a shovel.

Your bead most likely broke when the tire blew off the rim.  I have had this happen twice to me.  Luckily for me it happened in the garage when seating the bead.

Yea I have heard of that, but that usually is due to having too high of a pressure when you initially seat the bead. I never inflated the tire above 40psi and was running a little under 30psi when it blew. But it does make sense that the bead could've been damaged when it came off the rim it certainly wasn't a fluid or graceful process.  Was certainly the fastest I've ever got a tire off a rim haha. I think next time around I am going to be going with a purpose built either tubeless or tubeless-ready tire, because a single ply xc tire certainly wasn't the wisest choice for a front tire in retro-spec.

People can be b@$tards - then they can surprise you by doing something like this. It's been my general experience that most mtbers will stop and assist a fallen comrade. Just my 2 cents.
