New work by the dam @ beatty super soft.

The work we did last weekend is super soft, it was not quite ready for 2 inches of rain in an hour. I would prefer to keep the trail closed tomorrow, but i know its gonna see a ton of use any way.

Sadly, I fear much of the (really cool) work that was done last weeked will be trashed by the careless hoards sure to decend on the park tomorrow.  Cry Cry Cry

PSA: new line at the dam crossing @ beatty. Small kicker right, go around left, far left is the berm coming in from the green trail.

If its any consolation trying to hit it would not end well. The run up is 4" of peanutbutter goop, the lander is slick, and the drain at the bottom is full of more silt from the gulley washer thurs. Will be sweet once dry though.

Great, now I'm going to have to quit skipping the back section just so I can hit that jump.  That previous section trail is not hard-tail friendly but I'll do anything for a 1/2 second of air followed by the inevitable crash into the trees.
Tongue
Thank you all for the work you have done to that trail!  From the berms to the climbs it is really becoming a consistently fun trail.    Can we add a ramp into the lake somewhere? Grin

You are very welcome. The section you have been skipping will be getting a complete machine makeover this winter with new berms, jumps, proper switchbacks, new trail and optional advanced lines!

I was out at Beatty with the family earlier, attempting to fish. I checked the new work and to quote a friend,  "The run up is 4" of peanutbutter goop, the lander is slick". This is still pretty much the case. It's now dry chunk peanut butter, instead of soy based peanut butter. I would still avoid it if possible.

You prolly already thunk of it but I would suggest using more gravel/ big gravel for 10 yards or more up the runoff channel from the culvert. At least the gravel pile is above the needed location ... Maybe some grass seed on the edge of the channel this fall?

Can't wait to hit the loft.

I rode Beatty earlier today to try out this new feature. This jump is going to be sweet when it settles in.  The run up was a little soft but drying well. On my first lap I took it easy and knuckled the landing a bit.  The jump is more of a step up then it looks in the pictures on this post.  On my second lap I charged it and cleared it no problem and hit the sweet spot of the landing.  Thank you to all the trail gnomes and keep those TTF's coming!

Hit it around 12:30-1 on both of my laps. Pretty much the same story as bagadonuts. The crush will be a nice addition to the run in. First lap I hit it as everything looked tacky but I could feel the bike sinking and slowing a little more than I thought based on what the clay looked like. It was noticeably faster and drier on lap 2. Great work Gnomes. It's fun to come home to a trail I grew up riding on and see it always improving.

Yup. Phase 2 this week, stabilization, gravel check dams, additional compaction. Last week the dirt was powder and wouldn't pack, this week its goo. Waiting on a happy medium.

I went oug an checked the trail before deciding to ride it and could see where someone got squrierlly on the landing at 2 and thought better of it. Clay is such a tricky beast once it gets a good bit of pack to it things should be fine I lnow that at my house I always try to mix in some loamy topsoil in with the clay it really helps things dry up and hold together better. Most people where pretty respectiful of the trail and didnt tear up the the new berm that much.
