Cool perspective piece on "bandit" trails.  Law #10 is a winner

This just seems nuts to me.  If you want "private" trails build them on your own land.  If you trespass to build or build on public land, then I have as much right there as u do. You can't tell me I can ride it or share it with my friends.   Much like the other thread that got axed yesterday, this thread is foolishness.

Actually, I think Gnarkill has a good point, even though I don't understand his name. Rule 10 saying not to share info about trails, not to give anyone directions, etc etc seems snobby and counter productive to the community. Being 'hardcore' and 'keeping a secret' sounds more like being a jerk.

Based off FPO's posts I begin to feel I've joined the wrong group

Actually, not really.  Word of mouth is cool with people you trust.  Posting the trail on a public internet forum, not cool.  Among other things, you can end up with people on a trail riding &^&^ that's over their head.  Next thing you know, they got their boys out there tearing &^&^ down.

Gnarkill I don't feel you have joined the wrong group. Everyone gets all uptight about private trails. While I agree with everything that article has to say I do not think a public community for local bike advocacy is the place for such articles or talk. The boards in Raleigh have a strict no illegal or private trail discussion policy and I do think it is a good one. If you are not sure if a trail is supposed to be legal or not it is better to ask a moderator or someone that has communities ties in private rather than in a public space.

While certain trails may or may not exist is not the question since even if you stumble on a private trail that is supposed to be there the owner may not want you there or anyone else there. If it is illegal then we don't need to highlight it and get individuals in trouble.

So in short if it's not listed on the front page this isn't the place to discuss it.

YES!  You should have joined Bam's new group instead of the old one!
