WTB snowboards and gear for kids?

my two boys 10 and seven would like to start snowboarding this year. We live in Hickory North Carolina and to make it up to Boone quite easily. I don't want to spend a lot on snowboards and boots  in case they don't want to snowboard any longer. Any suggestions where I can take my kids to get fitted and possibly buy some used equipment?

I think there is a Play It Again Sports in Asheville. There's one on downtown Mooresville as well.

I would suggest renting at the slopes. ALOT less $$$ and if they don't like it you don't have to worry about selling the equipment or letting it collect dust in the garage.

A friend of mine got some insane deals at the REI yardsale or whatever they call it. I'm not sure when the next one is or if they'll have anything this time. I'll ask my buddy if his kid has outgrown his stuff yet.

I understand planning ahead and all, but I AM NOT READY to think about winter. You are killing the hope for fall.

Thanks for the follow ups. I figured that if I don't start looking now I will miss any chances at finding a deal. Renting is too expensive and I would like to give my boys a good shot for one winter.

Head up to Boone and go to First Tracks. Talk to Jeff or James and tell them that Stretch sent you. I worked there all through college. They have always had a program for kids stuff where you can trade it in later on and upgrade to a bigger board and bindings when they outgrow it. This time of year they are always trying to move the remaining 13-14 gear since the 14-15 stuff is arriving.
