Next steps in forks

I am still searching different options for my GT Karakoram Sport for riding.  If you saw, I started by asking if anyone had any older Rockshox or Fox forks that were better than the regular spring (entry level) fork that I currently have on the bike.  I am concerned on buying a used fork and noticed that Suntour does have upgrade but just not sure if it is good or not.  I have added a link below.

For around $235, I can get this one new or can get one of the lower end RockShox.  Any suggestions?

No experience with Suntour forks. I have purchased and sold several Fox forks off this site, no bad experiences.  I like Fox, but Rock Shox stuff is right there with it.  PM sent

I have had less than stellar experience with Suntour's entry level forks... Which the one you provided a link for is.  Keep looking for a used Fox or Rockshox locally (they are out there!).  Even a fork that hasn't been used in a while can be brought back to good working order with a simple service that a shop or friendly Trailblazer can provide.

I would look into Manitou forks. Great performance for the money. I started out with the Tower Expert and it was around $280. A great set and forget fork. Next I upgraded to the Tower Pro which is now called the Minute. It is a little more at $380 but a slightly more plush ride but took a little tuning to get it how I like it. You will like either one.

Just for comparison, the Tower feels more plush on small bumps and roots compared to every Rockshox, Fox, and Suntout fork I have ridden.

Look for a good used fork.  Either on here or pinkbike.com.  Swap the seals and oil and she will be buttery smooth (if needed)!  After riding the RS Pike, I've become a huge rock shox junkie.  Much happier with it than Fox forks.

Be sure to check the steerer tube length to make sure it is long enough for your bike too.  Send me a email if you need help adding up the minimum length.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Finally made a decision around getting a FOX fork from one of the members here on the forums.  Nice part is that he is willing to help put the fork on and give me some pointers on it.
