Trail closure and trail running???

In respect of our trails here in Charlotte, what does trail closure mean for trail running? I can sense my frustration for winter weather building, so I am going to start seriously running and I'd prefer to run in the woods. Plenty of days where the weather is nice, but trails remain closed where I would like to trail run vs sit at home and drink beer.

Not sure up your way but I have been known to go hiking at Beatty when it is closed for riding. I don't leave footprints so I figure it doesn't hurt. I do know some trails close for both activities, like the WWC. When the trails are closed there, they are closed period. And Anne Springs is the same I think.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.

When the gate is closed at Sherman, it is closed to all user groups since there is no parking area.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

At LNSP, when the trails are closed, that means no traffic at all!

If the trails are closed, they are closed to all users.

Is Dicky the irresponsible party for the undergarments at the Stairway to Heaven sign at RRT?  I do seem to remember a pink pair of thongs there. Only the Shadow knows I guess. Shocked

I do mostly running on the trails, and if they show closed I stay off of them, for a couple of reasons:

1.  While it may be true that running on wet trails is less damaging than riding a bike, it is not without impact.  How much I don't know, but there has to be some.

2.  If a cyclist sees a runner heading out on a closed trail, he/she is probably more likely to think the trail is open or to venture out on it.

3.  Maybe even more importantly, since a closed trail can't be enjoyed by the people that put in nearly all the effort to build and maintain them, it just ain't fair for others to enjoy, IMO.
