Front Derailer Question

So i have a slx front shifter, and a 3x10 slx front derailleur.

Upon switching from a 3x to a 2x up front, I can't seem to get a clean, consistent shift both up and down.  I have fiddled with the barrel adjust and it does work, but not always.

The shifter is a 2x front shifter as well.

Would the best thought be to get a 2x front derailleur or just try to dial in the front barrel adjuster and hope I can get it worked out?

The inter webs weren't a lot of help on this one.  To much information, and none of it what I wanted.

I've used a 3x front derailleur on a 2x system. Have you adjusted the limits of the derailleur?

I've played with the limits but it seems to be an under shift problem more than an over shift one.

Did you properly set up the front derailleur to run 2x? I only ask because I found that out the hard way. When the SLX 2x/3x front der is in the 2x position its actually only shifting from 2-3, not 1-2.  You have to put the shifter in 2 and then rotate the 2x/3x switch underneath the shifter. This locks out the 1st gear position.

Your symptoms lead me to believe this may be the case.

The FD is still a 3x without an option for the 2x.

Anyone have a used 2x front derailleur for sale?
