Knee pad recommendations

After my latest knee incident, it's time for some protection. Looking for something more along the XC lines than the DH line. Looking at the Fox Launch and the POC VPD 2.0. Any thoughts?

Try Raceface

Seems like I was in your boat about a month ago.  My kneecap met my stem in a serious way, which meant I was off the bike and limping for longer than I'd like (3 weeks).  So, I decided knee pads for me from then on.  Wanted something that would protect, but didn't need bike park/DH protection.  Pulled the trigger on a pair of POC pads:

I'm 6'3", 225 lbs, and the large fits perfect. They don't slip down, very light and comfortable, and I honestly forget they're on.  Highly recommended.

Check out the Raceface Ambush pads... they will ride with you anywhere and are versatile.  Pedals great, feels like they are not on.  Not to mention, if you are out in the mountains and have a big extended climb in 90+ degree heat where no wind is blowing/exposed to the sun and you don't want to over cook yourself... you can take them off without having to take your shoes off in 10secs.  These pads do not slide on/off, they are an open back design so you just wrap around knee, velcro on... go.  Very well built, takes hits and looks new, and they stay put when you take a hit.  I ride with them locally as well as in the Mtns.

I really like my Ambushes... but they are pretty substantial and dont pedal XC as well as id like. I ended up popping the stitch ahead of the knee and pulled out the secondary padding.. it thinned them out alot... and they arent as bulky anymore. But id go with the 7 protections or these guys from Troy Lee (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Haha... funny, I'm completely opposite... to be honest... I can't stand my TLD's... yes, those same ones... and I will gladly sell them to anyone.... think they are larg/xl... worn twice, never crashed in them... $50 almost like new.... LOL

I got a pair of the POC VDP Air mentioned earlier and love them.  They are articulated to help form around the knee and stay there and they are also cool (ventilation wise)  They stay in place which is critical obviously.  Just so happens that I gave them a pretty good test the first time I wore them and the passed with flying colors.  Stayed in place and my knee came out unharmed.
