North Meck - rollers being removed from trail?

When doing my laps earlier today, I noticed that a roller has been completely removed from the trail...(?)

Is this an intentional and 'official' change to the trail, or has someone else done so?

I certainly hope this is not a move toward a "lowest-common-denominator" type of change to the trail.

Tangentially, the pump track is magnificent! Thanks again to all those who invested sweat and time to it. I've seen many folks grinning and enjoying it (including myself and my two young sons). I am disappointed that I continue to find trash (mainly plastic water bottles) lying about on the track, however... Sad

This is news to me.  Could you be a little more specific as to location of said removed rollers?  And did it look like they were "newly removed"?  Knowing the trail coordinator it would be more plausible that you'd see MOAR rollers, not less.

Are you talking about the one towards the end, just before the dip/drop, that was built from small logs? I noticed this about a month or so ago, and the other day noticed a piece of rebar sticking up ~3" which I pounded into the ground.

Yeah I would have to agree with this - no way he removed them on purpose!

Not to hijack this thread but if you see it (Will), I meant to ask you a few weeks ago but there is a reroute around the really rooty section right after the first bridge (the sketchy one near the old truck in the woods); was this intentional?

Thanks!

I was incorrect.

The roller that I thought was missing is one of the two that are circa the 2.3 mile point on the trail.

The first of these two roller is a bit flattened - especially on the right side - and, in the shadows that morning, I didn't even 'feel' it (and, thought the second roller was the first...) Follow that?

Anyway, no problem - false alarm.

Mea culpa.

I need to talk to Huntersville Park and Rec about getting a trash can out at the pump track.  I have a feeling the neighborhood kids aren't quite ready to start picking up after themselves...

Yes someone has been wearing the rollers on the trail down and making them smaller...Mother Nature Shocked  lol  We collectively need to do something about it for sure.  Thanks for the heads up though.  I'd love to have a roller building party out there!

And yes someone (don't want to assume but I'm guessing a speed racer type) made an alternate line on the trail just after the 1st bridge before a downhill root section.  Still thinking about what to do with it.  I didn't want to block it off while the summer series races were going on and catch someone out who might be used to taking it.

There is definitely fun trail work to be done there.  I'm most likely going to wait until the fall to get a big workday together.
