Did Sherman get Shorter or is my Czar faster?

I don’t pay that much attention to lap times anymore.  I try to let the bike do most of the work and pay attention to form, flow and efficiency.  I got a new Turner CZAR in July and been able to get 30-40 miles per week on the trails.  Most of my time is at Rocky River/BYT/WWC and Western NC.  I went to Sherman on Sunday.  It was not crowded so I decided to check out my lap time.  It’s been about 2 years since I recorded my personal best at Sherman and I was pleased that I set a new personal best.  By a good bit!   I wasn't even trying as hard as I could.  I get to Ride Sherman a bunch…..24+ times a year…..I thought I just about had it memorized.

Did we lose a bit of the trail or am I that much faster? What’s the actual mileage?

I've got to Plug Dave Turner and his CZAR!  This bike has a soul!  I'm just along for the ride!

The Czar eats miles.

Random note, I think I saw a Black Czar on a BMW at the WWC on Sunday.

Maybe I shouldn't sell my Czar, LOL.

I think it is the same distance it has been for the last couple of years.

Me and my buddy both record 11.5 for all three loops at Sherman.  Out of curiosity what was your time?

58:44......My riding buddy finished in under 57 minutes. Really HATE him!  I take a peak at my time time when I pass the silo after the RC loop.  13:40.  And the Dam on the lake loop.  39:10.  I was not really pushing too hard but decided I had a chance to finish sub 58 so I hammered pretty hard about the last 2 miles.  Didn't make it.  I used to pay attention to lap times every ride.....now I'm fatter and older so I tell myself they are not as important as flow, efficiency and fun.   Interesting.....I started to enjoy the ride a little more....Ride more often.....skills improved.....Got Faster........Oh and the CZAR helps!

It's fast right now because it's so dry.

Under an hour is a speed I can't imagine at this point.  Best I've ever done it was 1:11 and that was plenty fast for me.  Joe F and I are primarily just trying to get to the finish without having to be wheeled out of there on a stretcher.  You fast guys are impressive with those sub-60 minute times.

It's all in the DW Link! <that's my theory, been a DW fanboy for @ 5-6 years now>

I think the new line above the rocks, on the main trail has improved times a little. Otherwise I'd say it's the same.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

I still take the old line but you can tell it's not ridden much anymore. Sunday was a drift fest out there got fun and loose a few times.

Thanks Jerry! It really helps to have a good leader out there. By proxy, a lot of your experience was passed down.

Perfect lines aside, I think the biggest factor in a fast lap is fitness. I guess that's obvious, but an improvement in fitness really comes out there (for me).

I've rode Sherman a handful of times including today (the little moisture helped) but can someone tell me what the "short cut" is shortly before the Lake Loop?

It is a little connector trail that connects the main loop back to itself somewhere around half way between the lake loop and the exit.
