1. After killing myself a few times and wondering how I am so far behind everyone else (according to Strava) I realized that it was lumping me into the "Short Track/Dirt Road" segment (i.e. Brick House, to Short Track to the Gravel Road) while I was riding the entire Soft Ball Loop as it now stands (which means right at the first fork, straight onto the "new trail", down across the creek, left at the next fork after the bridge, up the climb, and then the old short track, the whole thing, rock garden and all... Has anyone created a new public segment since the trail was rerouted? I hate to create redundant segments but the segments out there are pretty dated.
After 5 years and tons of reroutes, the trail is STILL awesome. There is a large pine tree (read: chainsaw large) that fell down at the first gully loop intersection blocking both the right hand turn to Gully and the old trail. People are already starting to ride around it. If you walk in from the fire road it isn't far (I didn't have my chainsaw in my pack). It has the Gully Loop sign on it btw so maybe bring a pry bar to pop the sign off.
Also - sometimes I ride the exact same loop and it records a specific segment the first time (e.g. Roller Coaster Loop) but doesn't add it to the list of segments the second time even though I ride it exactly the same - what gives? And how accurate is Strava for elevation gain?
What the heck, while I'm at it, I'd like to give a shout out to Mark and the guys at Bike Line for constantly dealing with my nagging and hunting down every little creak, squeak, scrape, etc. sound and keeping me on the trails and happy.
I'd like to thank my agent, and Gatorade, and ...
