No more dodgeball at recess

Print Post
This week my child's elementary school announced that they have officially banned any sports at recess that involve kicking or throwing in the direction of other students, as well as those that involve physical contact (touch football).  So, no more kickball, soccer and yes, dodgeball.

Now the kids just sit around at recess and watch YouTube on their cell phones.  Ok perhaps a bit of a stretch, or is it?

Pathetic. I've noticed in talking with my own children that "gym" class isn't really gym class any more either...  Angry

That's why so many are home schooling and/or private schooling their children.  Absolute shame.  Sorry about that, Rob. Sad

Maybe they will get a participation trophy for watching U-tube.

Hey, I've got an idea.

Anybody up for a hunger strike?

The rest of us can stage a boycott and demand the resignation of the President of the University of North Carolina.

Maybe MSNBC and CNN will help us get the word out.

Do we have anybody here of college age that speaks really lousy English and dresses poorly willing to go on the air?

A sub 2.5 GPA and 30 minute lap at Sherman might be helpful. Cool

Such epic stupidity. They do stupid crap like this and then we all b***h about kids getting fat. But truth be told it really isn't the schools fault, chances are they got sued at some point and the lawyers have suggested removing these activities as a result. They have to cover themselves. If you think its bad here go to California. My wife was asked to stop giving my kid food with peanuts in it because another kid has allergies.

We all know the real reason kids get fat it's that we need to ban forks and spoons!

Not true. We are in a CMS Elementary School and take PB&J at least once a week. No rules against it.

As a parent of a child with severe peanut allergies, I understand why schools have asked parents not to send peanut based food to schools, but my child knows to sit away from anyone with foods that contain peanuts.
He takes responsibility for his safety while at school, and we have an epipen for that "just in case" moment.

My kids are in a CMS magnet and the teacher sent a note home with my kid in kindergarten asking his mom not to send him with PB&J... maybe it varies from school to school...
