Hopefully they just put a pair of nose clips on every life jacket, require people to wear them and call it a day.

Rode WWC last night, trails were in great condition! Went to grab a drink and a bite to eat after the ride and they were pressure washing the walls of the lower pool. I will say the grilled chicken salad with apples, walnuts and vinaigrette was really good!!

They are filling the ponds!!!

Rode last night...  Crowd was still pi$$ poor but more folk than last week.  I bolted around 8PM.

Perhaps the water will be back on next weekend?  They are having their 10th anniversary fest.

What I saw on the news was they were planning to chlorinate the water, which is what the other whitewater park does.

They were filling it up with water today. It may be running next week.

Probably alittle too optimistic. After the refill, then tests and monitoring. I bet by Labor Day the latest.

I was out there last night... they have 3 or 4 trash pumps sitting along the outside of the lower pond so that tells me that they are planning on draining the remainder of the water soon.  Then they have to power wash everything in the lower pond.

If they have to augment the filtration systems those would need to be designed and installed before they would refill the channel.

My estimate:
- 2-3 weeks to flush and power wash
- 4-6 weeks for filtration system enhancements if necessary
- 3 days to fill the channel

Best case is Mid-August worst case is March 2017

I was out there for a ride on Sunday...was told by employees that it would be Tues,  Wed or Thurs this week that channels will be rafting once again......looks like river jam will be back to normal this week.....it sure is good to see running water again. Getting the kayak out this week.....should be a good 10 year fest this weekend,

I was out there yesterday and the rafts were running again. I very rarely ride on that side of town (yesterday I was attending a class in the area and took my bike to ride USNWC afterwards) and was amazed at the number of mtn bikers out there. Didn't know there were that many in Charlotte. And the place was packed, apparently for a concert starting about the time I was leaving.

Good to see all the activity.

Was there last night.  It was good to see a few folks on the water.  Trails were in good shape...  There was the White Water River Jam series event which contributed to most of the people at the center... they started to thin out around 8:30ish.  The lawn for the River Jam concert was not nearly like it was BA.

So it should go up from here...  Although selfishly I like the smaller crowds...  less line waiting for beer and such.

A little off topic but... I FINALLY got my wife to ride at the WWC a few weekends ago. It took many greenway rides to get her comfortable, and we still only did the new gravel path/"trail" along the road. It wasn't as lame as I thought it would be which was nice. She said we have to do that one more time before she'll do lake loop. Slow and steady... Smiley

Lake loop is definitely the best "Intro to Mountain Biking" trail around. It is where my fiance started out 2-3 years ago. When that becomes easy, the best next step in my experience, is Lake Norman easy trails (Monbo / Norwood), Beatty green loop, and anything at Sherman.

Definitely don't push it though...

Also, NEVER offer unsolicited advice to an exhausted and frustrated significant other. Unless you enjoy spending the drive home in an uncomfortable, tension filled silence...

Thats great advice.....I took better half on Kitsuma ride and after the 14 switchbacks she was ready to kill me. She then took off and I could not catch her on the down hill ( she was so peeved - rode the whole thing on adrenaline. Let's just say there was some jewlery purchased after that ride.....BudLeach wrote on 08/18/16 at 12:40pm:

Not even close to the leaf blowing thread of 2006.  That thread had over 126 pages of posts!

When my ex-gf's daughter had gotten comfortable riding Lake Loop I took her to Sherman and we did an "all right turns" ride which worked out very well. Basically, we just rode trail that was to the right of the entry road and ignored the more challenging stuff that's to the left. Ended up being ~5.5mi as I recall, and was a good confidence booster for her.
