$9 for a beer?!  That goes against my sense of decent, basic morality.  I'll admit I've never had a Hop Drop & Roll but $9 seems pretty excessive for any brand, as far as I'm concerned.  If it's a Newcastle I may concede, however!

Wait are the trails closed due to precipitation or bc of the water closures related to the amoeba debacle?

To be fair the beer is $8.65 w/ tax and I give the beerman the remaining $.35.  However Triple C Baby Maker in the can (lol @ babymaker in the can) is actually $9 before tax.

I used to gripe about the cost of beer at Panthers games, but then I went to the WWC and the Knights stadium and realized beer at the football games was cheap in comparison.   Sad

Baby Maker is $10/bottle at Harris Teeter, and you have to provide your own amoebas.

It didn't used to be that bad... Sometime around Summer 2014 they started to push the prices way high...  WWC used to be the best value in craft TAP beer.  24 oz cup would rarely cost more than $8 (for high Octane)... Hop Drop cans were $6 or $7.  Heck the last festival I attended there were a few $12 24oz beers on tap.  Angry

But hey... the market sets the price...  With the channels closed for the remainder of this year there will be far less demand for beer so they may have to drop prices to move inventory or adjust their purchasing.
The went through a glut a few years ago when Travis was the beermanager... someone way over ordered... so they had to start selling beer in growlers to move it all before it spoiled.

$10 for a 22oz bomber... WWC is $9+ tax for 16oz can.

You know if their loan had not been forgiven then they would currently not have this dilemma. The water quality would have been under the park and rec standards. Besides it's Pat McCrorys fault anyway.

WOW... way dead out there.

Come on folks...  We need this place to stay open and viable.

Please plan on visiting the WWC at least one day this weekend.

I will be out there every day this weekend...  Sat, Sun and Monday.

There are NO OTHER TRAILS that offer the trail mileage, reasonable trail diversity, excellent beer selection and pretty good food.

PLEASE VISIT WWC AND DON'T LIVE IN FEAR!

Absolutely on board with that sentiment. This is a world class facility and we are damn lucky to have it in our backyard.  Let's all make a point of giving our support to the White Rock Center in their time of need.

Amazing how quickly all the "thrillseekers" at WWC turned on the place. I thought the whole "activities at the WWC are inherently dangerous" thing was pretty darn clear myself. Sure, death came from some freak one in a billion nosefull of water rather than drowning, crashing, or falling - and sadly struck down a beautiful young person with a bright future - but all these people knew that death was possible there.

No one wants chemicals in their water, or advanced filtration systems that kill off the wildlife and disrupt local ecosystems. But one bad thing happens and everyone starts screaming for regulations and government oversight and chemicals and  etc. etc.

Least we know who the poseurs are now.

I am sorry for the young woman, and her family, and suggest we pray for them all. But this isn't the WWC (or anyone else's) fault.

Just my 2 cents.

I got a few Twitter notifications over the weekend that the lots were at capacity for the events in the evenings. Thats a good sign.

During the day, however - if people cannot ride the water, it won't get nearly as many people. They need to get the water events going again.
