Saw what appeared to be a BMW I8 this weekend at Dupont. Had a MTB on the roof. It was held in place with suction cups on the paint and rear window.

Something just didn't seem right seeing a $140K car with a MTB stuck on it.

Somethings just shouldn't be done.... lol  If you can afford a $140k car, you can afford a 2k beater truck to toss your mtn bike in. Cheesy

I can confirm this; it was at lake imaging too; hopefully it's exhaust is still in place after pulling out of there!

After playing around with the car and the bike this weekend I was able to figure out I can lay the rear seats completely flat and fit the bike in the trunk if I take the front wheel off. For now that will be good enough until I can figure out a more permanent solution. While I don't relish the idea of putting a rack on it, the other options just aren't appealing to me.

And if that hitch mount would work that'd be great, except the issue would then be when I put it on coilovers I'm not sure it would clear a grasshopper, haha. Granted that's a fair bit down the road.

And like a few of you mentioned getting a beater truck, I actually have a buddy at work who is selling a '00 Ranger Sport with 200k for 3 grand. I'm now just debating whether to spend the 3k on that or a new bike!  Grin

I agree.  That makes no freaking sense at all.  Rent an SUV for the weekend, then go buy a cheap truck.
