My two cents.

You want a real experience and some skillz. Take your SS rigid out to Beatty and ride on the weekend. The last time I did it, I promised myself I wasn't going back for a long while. I can't decide if it was the roots, the walkers who acted like it was a real chore to avoid the path that was most advantageous to a mountain bike, or the full squish bikes riding right on my azz bouncing over everything except me (after declining an offer to pass at an opportune time). Maybe a combination of all three.

And then I hit it. The root from hell that stopped me cold.

I don't like to feel like I'm abusing my equipment. The way I see it is, I'm one less user causing more erosion problems. I wish I had a different solution.
