Leaves breaking down and becoming good top soil is natural and produces a better trail surface year after year. Trails that are not freshly blown and are rode regularly do better in wet weather and no gas and oil is burned in the process. Just ride the trails and help the leaves break down on their own.  You will have to slow down a little and you will not set any new KOM's riding on leaves but its only for a short period of time.  Save the gas for your boat!

Clean out drains when needed but keep it natural.  Don't make me call in the Nature Boy

I bet if you lay a nice layer of asphalt down, the whole leaf-blowing argument is moot.  And, the entire issue presented in post #1 of this thread is also solved. BOO-YAH.

But if we pave all the trails well have to switch to skinny tires to reduce rolling resistance, and cool looking suspension forks would be pointless, and the word gnarly will lose all value, and eventually we'll reach a point where we have to wear skin tight rainbow colored suits to cut down on drag

I don't to wear rainbow colored skin tight suits

I like my plaid button up shirt and long carhartt pants.

Not true.  Leaves are organic material and organic material makes good topsoil for gardens because it retains moisture.  You remove organic material down to mineral soil to make trails.

You just...

Leave the leaves alone!  Trails need to be saved from middle aged men looking for something to blow #keepfishersfamilyfriendly

On a more slightly serious note, leaves can be fun at times, and it does work to make topsoil for free. But at the rate it takes to fully deteriorate into topsoil I'd say that a gentle dusting of them is great, but an actual layer of them might require blowing clear IMO.

It's way more fun to leaf surf while trying to ride on them. Leaf season is only a short time of the year.  It's the only time of year I can actually have good Strava time compared to the racer boys. Several laps and the trail gets cleared pretty much on its own while giving us "mountain bikers" more mountain like conditions to challenge abilities and possibly improve skill for many riders out there. I will continue driving to the mountains to enjoy fall with deep piles of leafy goodness.

How does this have anything to do with tall sharp roots on Green Trails?

Focus.

Everything!  Blowing of the leaves removes all top soil and magic trail dust away and exposes more of the roots...therefore the current state of the Fish Stix green loop is all the fault of the Fisting Farms trail coordinator. I forget who that is...Psychopath maybe

Quick question, where exactly is the "fisting farms" trail and is that just a nickname? As I've made blatantly obvious, I'm still new to the Mtb community here and am not very acquainted with all the local trails.

Fisher Farm is east of Davidson.  Mr Talley has a weird sense of several things. Humor is just one.

How will anyone survive, we must inform the public about such danger  Grin

Now the real question is, what are the chances of any trails being open this weekend with the rain.

Dogs off leash has gotten out of hand at Fisher.  I always ask the owner if they are aware dogs are required to be leashed and he/she always answers 'yes'.  The rules apply to someone else's dog I guess.

First the trail has the wrong color and now it is overrun by dogs?
