Elevation??  Sounds interesting... Given the short length of the trail, it would be interesting if this location could at least have some maybe bike parkish options (off or crossing main trail) to incorporate non looped runs with trail features.  Is this within the realm of possibilities?  Thinking kind of BYT'ish jump lines/flow lines etc.  Doesn't have to be anything big... just fun!

I agree with some of the points brought up at the meeting, that anything of higher difficulty or that could be perceived as potentially "dangerous" to the unwashed masses is not a good way to set yourself up for future replication with the city. More of a mild trail to get your feet wet and prove that it can be done, done well, done responsibly. Then go in later on down the road and, BOOM........Mega ramp jump park of death......with shark tank  Grin

Is this likely to be old school hand built or machine built? It will be welcomed either way, and I enjoy riding both types, but I just wondered if 4 miles would be enough to bring in machinery and so forth.

Nice! Being so close darn I might have to skip Sherman now...by the time I get to Sherman I can probably get 2-3 full laps at this new trail. Excited! Can't wait to seeing the trail get started. Bikers = business for surrounding places...one Big Mac before hitting the trail... Smiley. There is a good little fish place within a stone's throw from the new trail. Keep us posted. Definitely like to go donate some building the trail.

I think where you get the 40 acres comes with other acres that belongs to city of concord and cabarrus county. Look it up..Cabarrus County Gis. See attached image.

Had a chance to drive by and wow, it does has some deep pockets so definitely can get some elevation. I see this trail being similar to RRT in regards to landscape. Should be nice. With Concord Fire Department across the street...couldn't have been a better selection.

It's great to see so many folks excited about this trail development!  We are hoping that this new trail will help the THTB continue to grow our membership base in the Concord area.  When you add up all of the membership dues that we get each quarter it really helps in a big way to sustain our trail maintenance fund.

Don't forget to tell new folks that are interested in riding the new trail or getting involved with building to join the THTB!  Every member helps.

Any word on the proposed schedule?  This sounds awesome - more trails in the area!  Charlotte is going to be the mountain bike center of the universe.  Or pretty close, at least.

Everyone at the meeting signed in, gave email addresses and listed what they would be willing to help with. The organizers said to be on the lookout for an email with more info. Haven't seen anything yet. They also encouraged everyone at the meeting that wasn't already a Trailblazer to join up and support what already exists

Writing/phoning members of council, contacting parks and rec and letting them know there is enthusiasm, ............ All the usual grassroots army stuff to help move it along

While waiting, if interested check this little trail out. Nothing great if you are looking for mileage or technical feature. Just a different scenery which ends up going over buffalo creek...suspended bridge...see for yourself..

Got it, I ride all over that area and didn't know it was there. It's Unfortunate the access is off Mt P Road, (knida Busy at times)  Although I road down it today but I usualy get off on Barrier Store.

We do a little Gravel race on Wednesday evening in that area, it would have been sweet if we could've tied  it in.

I'm president of the C4 group in Concord who had people at the meeting.  I could not be there but I emailed the city councilman pledging our assistance, but I have not heard anything back.

it's still happening. Things just move slowly with city governments. Good to hear you are eager to get to work on this.

I just got the emails about it last week. Email said there were delays in getting them sent out, illegible handwriting on the sign in forms, ...........

According to the email, there's progress. Sounds like people are handling the red tape side of things and we are just supposed to hang back and wait till they need to call in the shovel crews

Just for th record...

It only took 1 1/2 years to get thru all the meetings, etc. etc. Before we were given permission to build trail at Sherman.

I dont see this one taking that long but, these things do take time. It usually comes down to one person willing to dedicate some effort to keep the project rolling forward. I'm not going to be that guy on this one.

Oh come on - did this just die? Is Washington working on it? That would explain the deafening silence and sound crickets...

I got a email a couple weeks ago. They are all for it.  The Lawyers on the Concord side are trying to figure out how to make this work. So that is  where it sits rite now.
