what's with the fork in the middle of Ski run?  Got of course and ended up going down no name backwards.  Turned around and saw a cut through to Ski run with a sign saying Ski run repeats.  I'm hoping people are not riding part of Ski run backwards cause it won't be pretty if someone is coming down it.
And by the way, RRT is PRIME!!!

The fork to left allows Ski run to be carried over to continue on with No Name at the point of that switchback allowing a nice downhill run for those willing to forgo the balance of Ski Run and skipping climb of No Name. (there is an arrow indicating to stay right for main trail) The Repeat Ski run sign has been there for a few years on the way up No name climb to allow a loop back to Ski Run and has not been used very much for that. The point is I'm piecing together cross of the Green Loop (4.5 miles) with other parts to get a longer loop and still get a more intermediate trail. In other words hide from the major climbs. I may need a little more signage the cut does really draw you in.

Thanks Steve!  Cant believe I never noticed the Ski run repeats sign during all those years.  I guess it's the lack of oxygen from the climb.

Why would one want to cut out No Name Hill?  It's the sadistic side of fun and just makes trails like Ski Run that much more rewarding... Tongue Grin

Yeah, we were barrelling down ski run at night last week and ended up diverted to the left on that new one.  When you're going white knuckle fast through there, it's easy to miss small signs as you come up on them so quick because you're focused on obstacles.  Bigger signage, maybe a little further up the trail as a warning also.

Well when I raked it in didn't realize that it was going to be the visual pull that it is. I may have to go back and cover with leaves.

Lot of it for me is trying to create options that allow RRT to be taken in different bites.
The # of riders peaked at an average of 65 a week couple years back down to 45 this spring to now about 25-30. There is a good core group that ride weekly.

Plus the few that don't bother to sign your waiver which I've seen more than once.

Saw 2 that didn't sign in yesterday.  Trail is in awesome shape!

I got taken in by the cutoff last time I rode there. It won't happen again. Love the new carpet!

I got caught by the cut-off the other night.  I wouldn't get rid of it, just maybe more signage.

I rode yesterday....I must be conditioned to my lines on ski run because I never even saw the cut up to the left to skip the rest until I was climbing back up No Name.

A bunch of leaves are down since a few weeks ago. It looks way less obvious now.

Rode it 2x this week. Trying to help out those averages Smiley

Finally made it up to RRT today.

An incredible creation and definitely challenging in spots. Especially with the leaves.

Between gasping for breath on some of the climbs, I found myself snickering often, and had a few 'you've got to be kidding' moments. Can't make it every week, but I'll definitely be back regularly.

I wanted to thank whomever put that carpet on No Name. It made my shoes grip a whole lot better.   Smiley

Now your life is changed forever; no other trail will be good enough for you again!

RRT is awesome right now. Insanely beautiful with the maple and beech leaves glowing. The leaves on the trail aren't exactly ground up, but they're flattened enough to see the rocks and so forth. No problem at all riding except for a handful of places where they pool.

Yeah, great place to live as well.

I can see why it is the standard by which all other area trails are judged..

The leaves weren't thick, but they did conceal the trail in places which slowed me down a little (not a bad thing). I wanted to check out the whole thing, so I skipped the bypasses. Had to double back once or twice, but in generally the signage was adequate and I didn't have a problem following the trail.

I didn't do Death Valley, and decided to down climb the plunge.  Smiley
There's always another day..

My old legs were a little wobbly afterwards. But it certainly provided that good, warm, fuzzy feeling.

A great mix of climbing, and moderate technical challenges. And it's very well maintained. Again, it's an incredible piece of work and we're lucky these folks allow us to use it.

29er SS rigid, 29er full squish

You should try it on you 29ER SS rigid ... It will surprise you how well that bike will do there. It is my favorite bike to ride at RRT.  Although I have ridden Death Valley Bridges on it several times, I recommend skipping it on a ridged bike.

Yeah, some people like pain and simplicity.., me included..

I may do it.
Of course, I'm a little better climber on the rigid bike.
Not sure I have the legs for 32x18 at this place, though. Smiley
A PC-1 and cross tires don't help. They do great on lesser stuff.

I'm putting together a new 11 speed hard tail right now, in carbon. With a remote Reba and some adequate trail tires. Maybe ideal for it.

I thought about putting together a serious single speed for this kind of stuff, but I just couldn't find the right frame without going overboard on the price. And I already had the wheels with cassette freehub. And not sure I like the SS mod rear wheel thingy.

I aspire to be the man you are someday.  😁

I can do RRT on a 32x18 but I will admit that a lot of suffering goes on during the ride. Don't think I will ever try rigid. I prefer my full squish out there.

On another note, RRT was rocking yesterday.  Kudos to Steve for all the work you do out there.  You have built the best trail in the area.

I had to switch to a 32/19 on RRT. No Name was killing me on the 18. Now that we have carpet, I think I can go back to 18, but I prolly stay 32/19 for the winter out there.
