End of Heartbreak Direction?

I've gotten pretty good at navigating RRT, but there is one spot that recently started to give me pause.

When you arrive at the intersection of Heartbreak Option and Death Valley, if you turn slight right to skip Death Valley, you arrive at an intersection with three choices: Straight, Left, or Right.

I always go right, because it brings you back to the main trail a few feet farther down from where you entered Heartbreak (and it gives you 0.9 miles for the option, which  works according to the sign).

I'm pretty sure left is where Death Valley exits and will bring you back to the same spot once you pedal through the intersection.

But where does straight take you? Am I missing something or doing this wrong? Huh

Straight is the end of the recently extended death valley, but you would be going in the wrong direction, which on death valley would be a big problem.

There is definitely some signage needed at that spot - when you finish death valley you're now faced with the same confusion.

Perhaps a traffic circle would work.

Okay - I remember hearing they extended DV and figured that might be the new exit, but wanted to be sure. Maybe one day I'll just ride DV....  Roll Eyes

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

I'll get some signs put up and likely block the old Death Valley exit also. There are some tough women riding that are part of a church group from Albemarle.  Super nice bunch of people.

Death valley isn't really hard at all. more of a mind thing. You can literally just roll down and up them.

OK signage up and I blocked the old exit to prevent confusion there. Put a do not enter sign at the exit of Death Valley. Added a little soil just before the 1st bridge on Death Valley it had eroded and was creating a kind of hit before the bridge.

I haven't been out there in several years... Even so I truly appreciate what you have done opening your property up for all to enjoy.  It's a lot of work and the trails are always in great shape.  Humble folks will say "it ain't nothing...", "it keeps me busy etc., etc.,.".  I get it.  I am thankful that you are willing and able.

Thank you Steve.

Just a heads up
I rode there last Friday and took the river option(don't remember the full name) and shortly into the trail there were 2 "on the ground" bee colonies to the left, and they weren't carpenter bees. The first one seemed bigger than the second but both were really noisy.  The second one was very shortly after the first one.  I'm not sure if they would even still be there (no pun intended) but wanted to make others aware.  Sorry for the late notice.

Full loop with new Heartbreak extension is just over 12 miles and 1600 elevation gaing.
In remarkable shape. Most excellent!

+1

Was out there yesterday. That trail is excellent. Love death valley section.

When USNWC (on my way home from work) starts to become boring, I make the pilgrimage to Rocky River.

Also, I didn't realize there was a speedway across the road and through the woods. I was out there yesterday and heard what sounded like a race car ripping test laps around a D shaped track. I love that sound of a motor running wide open up through the rev range with open exhaust  Cheesy  The sound of nature is cool and all, but when all I can hear is myself panting heavily, that engine sound is a little motivation for me to just grip it and rip it.
