Dixie River?

Been riding Dixie River Road on our tandem a lot lately and there is some work being done on the entrance.  Rode by there Saturday and spotted two cars coming out with bikes.  It was only 12:30, but they must be closing early because they locked the gates behind them Angry

Dixie River has been open, where have you been? Just may have to ride to the trailhead. Parking is very limited....like no parking yet.  Wink

Did another club take it over?  Not listed on the homepage.  Questions about status would be met with some serious hostility.

Dixie River is open just like Catawba trails were open when the WWC was being built. You gotta be part of the inside TTB crowd. Oh you're not?!?!? Well, pi  . off then.

If anyone is willing to donate $80,000 to construct the parking lot required by the City & County (owners) before the trails can be opened to the public let me know. Once that happens, it will give us no greater pleasure to open the trails and be done with this stale rant.

So the trail is closed to ALL users? Or just non in the loop users?

Rob - You need to know the secret handshake. It’s “Closed” unless you are on the list.

Will the city/county allow a gravel parking lot?  If yes, what would that cost?  Could we look to start a gofundme page if gravel construction price is realistic?

I bet the individuals that have keys to the Dixie gate have a set to Sherman and FJB as well.

Just let it go already.  3.5 years ago when Go Pro clips of the trail hit YouTube the word was as soon as the developer and city agree on how to do the parking lot it'd be ready to open.  There is something like 1300 acres in this land deal and if and when this trail gets to open matters very little to the folks making the decisions regarding terms of the development. TTB is just a tiny pawn they let build trail prematurely.  Hopefully it will all come together, but it will open not before the city and the developer care to have it open.

About to start my 3rd year as president of the trailblazers, and I've ridden there 3 times. Unless you're willing to stop being salty and step up and help cut through the red tape with Charlotte water, P&R, and a massive Japanese developer, then shut up already.

See above on price. This is for a gravel lot. Includes the driveway permit, NCDOT approvals, stormwater permits, erosion control, clearing, grading, drainage, stone, compaction, inspections, etc. Also, been on the board 5+ years and have ridden it twice. Both time were following site walks to look at the parking lot and try to figure out options to get the trails open so this thread can die....
