Which trails recommended for day trip to Charlotte

Print Post
Hi everyone.
A couple of buddies and I are thinking about taking a day trip to Charlotte on Sunday for a change of scenery.   We are from the Raleigh Durham area.

Seeing as we have never ridden any of trails in Charlotte, what would you recommend?

Thanks

Not super picky.  Are there any trails that have some decent mileage with a mix of flow and tech?  Maybe some drops/jumps. Not looking for anything super crazy.  Something fun.

If you're coming down 85 on the way into Charlotte, take a quick detour and hit Brown Mill Trail in Concord, about 10 minutes from the exit.  It's a "short" lap but with flow, tech, drops and punches way above its weight. It's short enough you can bang it out and have plenty of time to play elsewhere, but well worth the effort.

If only one day, agree with White Water Center.
However, Rocky River Trail would be a top pick for me as well.

On heck no!  Hit it this past weekend.  The renovations on the Laurel / Wildlife Loop side are fantastic and worth making a trip for.

Definitely can't go wrong with LKN State Park!  There aren't any built up jump lines, but the single track is all super high quality with plenty of speed on the downhills to jump and pop natural trail features.  The terrain and texture of the Laurel Loop feels like a mini Pisgah (mountain laurel interspersed with the hardwoods and pine)

If I were doing a day trip there from out of town I would hit Monbo Loop, then ride all of Laurel & Wildlife (with Fallstown and Fox added in off of Wildlife).  That would be a little over 20ish miles of really high quality terrain.  LKN State Park has more local relief than the Raleigh area trails.

If you had more gas in the tank you could double back for Hawk, Hick, and Norwood loops.  They are right by the parking lot.

Fisher Farm if you want jumps/technical.

WWC for miles and general all-round riding.

Rocky River if you want to have trouble walking when you're done.

Thanks for all the replies!   I think we might be leaning towards BYT and maybe the one by concord on the way out.   That may change though.

We ending up riding BYT and had a great time.   Big thanks to the 2 gents that were blowing the leaves off the trail.  Also big thanks to the rider that helped point us in the right direction and let us know what to expect and where.

After that we hit up brown mill mountain.   Was super impressed with how much was there for mileage that was there.

Thanks again everyone!
