Looking for feedback on Solar Powered LED Lights on Mountain Bike Trails. Due to Daylight Savings Time, it gets dark early and was wondering if this has taken Bikers by surprise? Do we need LED Lights on Trails?

We have 175+ miles of trail. What is your proposal?

Solar Powered LED Lights are great for seeing in the dark. They can also be set up at the start / end of the bike trail for something to aim towards. I have heard security is an issue. The guys at the bike shop in Belmont said they would want security LED Lights and cameras in the parking lot first. We could outfit a full bike trail with Solar Powered LED Lights and Cameras. So if someone is set to pick up a biker they can check their cell phone to determine where the biker is on the course and how long before they arrive.

Vertical Solar: Who do you propose pays for this? Who will maintain the lights and camera?
Is there a need? Most all night riders have lights and ride trails they are familiar with usually from riding during day.
How far apart would said lights be? Are you proposing a greenway or garden path type lighting? Refer to the first sentence.
I don't see a need present. I ride with two lights; one on the helmet and one on the bars.

I get the security concern but night riding and mountain biking in general has always and always will be "ride at your own risk".

I think most riders would agree to keep the woods au natural. Smiley
