What trails should I start my daughter on?

Print Post
I am picking up a nice 24" MTB for my 6yo daughter this week and really want to get her out riding with me. I mostly ride FF and LNSP, but was wondering if there were better trails to get her started. She has done Jetton's 1 mile loop a few times on her 20", and was hoping for some more miles like that.

Thanks,
Ron L.

X2 on Sherman...do the main loop and stay to the right side of the fire road once you cross it for the first time. Or do all the main loop and accept getting off for a few things.

Also Beatty is a good one to start on.

When we did the kid's ride at Sherman Branch, we would go down the fireroad and do all the right turns, not doing anything on the left side. I meet a guy from work Saturday that is a new rider and I took him on that side and he enjoyed it.

Thanks for all the reccos!

Trekker1, she is the daughter of a BMXer, so carving is important! I also agree with all the WWC reccos, if anything to see other little shredders out there. She gets intimidated when she is the only girl and the youngest rider at a skatepark, so seeing other kids is a real plus.

North Meck is close and it may be the first stop, convenience wise, I was thinking about the green at Fisher Farm too.

Lastly, I haven't ridden Sherman yet myself (LNSP and Fisher Farm junkie - it's close!), so that might be enough reason to finally get there!

So far she has adjusted well to both hand brakes (she only has one on her BMX) and is slowly getting the hang of the gears over the 4 times we have gone out on pavement. A few more rides and I think she'll be ready for some dirt!

Thanks again!
Ron L.

If your daughter can benefit from having other kids around, check out Trips For Kids.

They have regular rides and are a great organization. I think they start back up in Feb.
