Debris on Trail at Lake Norman State Park

Hey folks, there were some serious storms that went through Lake Norman State Park over the weekend.  We've got reports of sticks and branches covering nearly all 30 miles as well as tons of face slappers from branches that were bent during the storms.

During your rides for the next few days if you could please stop to pick up branches on the trail that would be very helpful!  The trail gods will shine down upon you as you pay your trail tax.  We all know what happens when your trail tax bill comes due and the trail comes to get it from you...  Shocked

We may potentially be getting a morning work session together over the weekend or on Labor day to get get drains flowing and finish clearing debris.  Stay tuned and thanks for stopping on your ride to clear branches.

Just finished riding wildlife. 2 trees down that would take more than 1 person to move

Norwood is clear now.  Thanks Warren!

Can anyone tell where the downed trees on Wildlife are located?

There's a really big one on the far side of fox that will need a chainsaw and a few guys. See the attached picture. The others can be cleaned with a hand saw, which I'll take with me next time I'm in there. I can try to help tomorrow morning with the big tree if someone is going in there.

Thanks for helping with coordination folks!  It takes a village to keep 30 miles of trail rolling well!

Currently we don't have any club members certified to use chain saws at the state park.  We are working on getting the park to hold a certification course so we can start attacking these bigger trees.  For now Park staff has to use their own saws to cut them out.
