while i understand the cancelation policy, that kind of sucks. it doesn't seem like its just going to be random thunderstorms this weekend either. it sounds like it could be a 50 mile muddy cross race.

I get covering their butts 100%.  I knew the policy when I signed up.

This was in the recent email:

"We are so excited you are joining us for the first ever Greenway Classic this weekend! This is a first year event so we are thrilled you are willing to ‘test the waters’ with us."

So hoping they only cancel if the weather is totally raining turds and lightning.  Otherwise, those of us that "tested the waters" will be full-on disappoint.   Well over $4k in entries right now.

Fingers and toes crossed.

sheesh. i really want to do it but when they are calling for straight thunderstorms, not just rain, its hard to throw up $100 right now. maybe tomorrow it will change to sun and 70.

It was hard tossing up $75 this past Saturday, but with all us bitching about needing more local events and then not putting our money where our mouths reside...

1.25" predicted for Friday with 2.84" on Saturday.  I'd think that the newer bike trails would handle the traffic way better than the horse (poop) and hiking trails, whilst also serving up less post-race kerfuffle.

Since it's only a "no refunds" policy, perhaps they'd consider rescheduling a modified event OR transferring to a future event.  Otherwise, those who chose to "test the waters" might not be all that thrilled on future ASCG events.

I coulda spent $75 on beer...

Dammit.

Of course, it's all conjecture at this point.

I'd love to know before I start packing all my gear Friday night... and well before I wake up to a 5:00 AM alarm.

If it's on, I'll go.

I might even finish.

Good (and bad) news:

Due to the 3+ inches of rain and thunderstorms expected over the course of the weekend we are unfortunately going to have to reschedule the Greenway Classic.

We try never to do this as we know you all have spent time training and prepping for the race. That said, we want to be sure that conditions are safe (and fun!) for competitors, and it looks like this weekend’s weather is not going to cooperate with us.

We will send out a reschedule date in the next week. We will automatically transfer all registrations to that date. If, once you hear the date, you cannot make it you are welcome to transfer your registration to a friend.

Thank you all for your understanding and we hope to see you all out at the rescheduled date!

I'm sure riding around for four to five hours with horse poop bottles didn't sound that appealing.

Hey if that floats your boat, have at it. You know, the whole consenting adults etc thing I guess.

Personally, when I read Sara’s email I went directly to the fridge and grabbed a beer. Tasted all the better for the waiting!  Biggest downside I’m seeing from the postponement so far is that my wife is already filling my schedule with honey do’s.

Cest la Vie.......

I was at work when I got the email.

They asked me to put the beer back in the fridge until 5:00.

Seems like they pulled the plug too soon.  It's been a good day for a ride.

Easy to say now, they also had to worry about the short track on Friyay.

Hey, they were considerate of our time and had bands and foodservice to consider for today as well. Mother Nature is a fickle b***h and the best you can do is make a choice and deal with the fall out.

Personally I took the opportunity to get a nice ride in this morning and snuck the convertible out as well. Sneaking one in on Mother Nature feels like skipping class. Enjoy the time you have and cherish it. More than enough time for trouble to catch up with you.

Looking forward to the rescheduled race dates.
Cheers
Jeff

I went over and inquired on their FacePage.

The "coming week" has come and went.
