Rocky River to close Aug 14

We wanted to let everybody know that the Kiker family has made the decision to close Rocky River Trail as of Monday, August 14. The Tarheel Trailblazers want to thank the family for allowing us to share their beautiful land for many years.

Steve was instrumental in building miles of trail at Poplar Tent, Sherman Branch, and of course Rocky River. We are grateful for the profound impact he had on our riding community.

Got a chance to go today and will go back tomorrow. Thanks to Steve and family for all the smiles and near crashes over the years. It has been a great honor that you have allowed your trails to be open to the public. Thanks to ALL of you that paid the fee to enjoy the trails. This place will really be missed! This is the one trail in Charlotte that humbled and intimidated me every time I rode it! I really enjoyed talking trail with Steve when I saw him out and about working.

I'm gonna miss the therapy those climbs provided.

Rocky River kicked my butt many times.  Thank you Steve and family.  I didn't realize he was so involved in the other trails.
