Posting this because last time yall flaked out, can we support this since it's our only "local" XC race?

I plan to go.  May do a pre-ride, as I've never been there before.  They released a Strava map of the course, but it didn't seem to line up with the .pdf map on the Rock Hill site very well.  Any idea which parts of the trail will be used for the race?

I would rely on the strava map, I can share my file from the race in November. There isn't a lot of trail to follow or get mixed up on, so it should be pretty straight forward.

It will dump onto some fire roads and such every once and a while; you aren't lost!

Never ridden the trail either, thoughts on Hardtail or Full suspension (XC bike) for the race?

A hard tail would be fine, but I also raced singlespeed and thought it was a great course for it too. There isn't tons of rocks where you need the full suspension.

I'll be riding my scalpel just because its the only mountain bike with gears, but a hard tail would be perfect.

Descent crowd from what I saw! Sadly I had to jet in the middle of the Cat 2 race. Well run event and an even more challenging race course.

Admittedly I haven't done a lot of the races but that was one of the more demanding races for me.  Those hills "weren't &^&^" on the pre ride but after a couple laps the rooty one hurt and the last one SUCKED.  Really felt for the SSers, got to see first hand how bad it sucked for my buddy on the last lap lol!

You guys scalded that trail!  It looks like the race was run in the clockwise direction, opposite if how I normally rode it.  I started riding there in '11 after it 1st opened & loved it.  Sadly the developers cut off a large portion of the trail which was approx 8 miles in length.  I moved to OH 2 months ago so it's been a while since I've been there but will go back when I go home to L. Wylie to visit family.  Good vid...

Thanks man!

Yes, I think this is a great race course, solid mix of everything, with plenty of places to pass and make up time.

The only hard part (to me) was riding the single track even faster, I feel that at some point you can only go so fast on the single track, its techy and twisty enough that its hard to really get the power down on it. I mean, the faster guys obviously had no problems, but I did Tongue

The climbs do add up, the one single track climb before the steep Toms Revenge one is deceivingly draining.

Cool.
Appreciate the vid..
Looks like they've cleaned things up a good bit.

That's not the same Rock Hill trail I bush whacked on the SS rigid a few years ago.

That entrance off the criterion track is the normal/best entrance now?

ha, i found the back of my cassette quickly, you really just had to "outlast" it and then get back on the gas on the less steep grades... or at least that is what worked for me Tongue
