Spruce Goose Blue Jump Trail Reimagined!
If you’ve ridden Airline Pike Park anytime since the park’s opening in fall of 2021 you will have undoubtedly done quite a few laps on “Spruce Goose”, our blue rated jump trail in the Gravity Terminal. Spruce Goose was constructed as a complete FREE donation to the community by Craig Brickser of Community Trail Design. Craig poured his heart into the original build in between his paying trail building gigs and in a month we had a red clay highway of beautifully sculpted table tops and berms. A lot has changed at Airline since the construction of Spruce Goose, including the addition of the Flight School green circle gravity jump trail. That means we have the opportunity to revamp Spruce Goose, increase the speed a bit, and deliver a reimagined blue jump trail to provide a perfect progression to the Airline jump trail.
With the rebuild we are bypassing the two back to back berms after the first set of jumps to increase the speed riders will carry into the large signature table tops and step up in the middle of the trail. The reroute will also include a few new jump features of it’s own! After the second return (just passed the step up) we are rerouting the bottom third of the trail to fil it with jump features and a signature final wooden drop that will be a perfect stepping stone to the top Airline Drop in. Completing this work will bring the complete vision of Spruce Goose to life and really ramp up the progression opportunities in the Gravity Terminal.
Terra Tek Trails (Mike Thomas) out of Linville, NC will be performing the upgrade work on Spruce Goose. Mike is the man behind the Airline Jump Trail rebuild, along with countless sick trail across NC including trails at Rocky Knob Park, Beech Mountain Bike Park, Lake Hickory Trails, Beech Mountain’s Emerald Outback, Wilson Creek are of Pisgah, the Ranger District in Brevard, and most recently Old Fort, NC. We are so stoked to have Mike back out to Airline for this next chapter of the Gravity Terminal.
Green Dirt Jump Line at the BAR Trails!
The BAR Trail dirt jump area at Airline Bike Park certainly made waves (red clay waves that is…) when the Pro and Intermediate Lines were completed in Fall of 2024. This Spring the boys behind the BAR trails are teaming back up with Dialed Dirt (Hayden Kettwich) to add an introductory dirt jump line full of creative pumps and flowy jumps for those just getting into dirt jumping. Hayden is a master dirt shaper in an excavator and his prowess in the machine is rivaled only by his ability to send it on the bike! Our BAR Trails crew are working with Hayden to sculpt this masterpiece and if it’s anything like the two existing lines, this will surely be another major attraction for Airline Bike Park. PS, Hayden will build you a backyard pump track, dirt jump set, or flow trail… Hit him up through his website for more info on those services!
As you all can see there is plenty of stoke going around this Spring as the THTB crew at Airline prepares for liftoff on these park improvements. Thank you for your support and look out for more information on events at the park and the raffle campaign this Spring.
