🚵‍♀️ What an awesome week! 🚵‍♂️ First, let’s celebrate an incredible milestone—we hit 600 members Wednesday night, and as of writing this, we’re already at 611 members! 🙌 Just last night, 6 new members joined the Tarheel Trailblazers during our member-only event, showcasing the passion and dedication of this amazing community.

Your memberships are the backbone of everything we do. Not only do they help us maintain the 20+ trails we love and work to maintain in the area, but they also give us the momentum to pursue larger fundraising opportunities and exciting new projects. 🌲

And speaking of fundraising, a HUGE thank you to our amazing donors—we absolutely blew our Giving Tuesday campaign goal out of the water thanks to you! 🌊 Your generosity fuels trail improvements and maintenance, making it possible for us to continue creating incredible outdoor experiences for everyone.

We’ve got some exciting projects in the pipeline (stay tuned for updates!!), and we’re looking to expand our member-only events to give back even more to this awesome group.

We’re also committed to listening to you. 🎤 Keep an eye out for surveys throughout the year—they’re a key way for us to understand what matters most to YOU, our members, and we take your feedback seriously. 💬

Our next big goal? 1,000+ members. It’s ambitious but totally within reach, and it’s a critical step toward working with the municipalities and land managers to expand and enhance our trail systems. Let’s keep the momentum going!

You may have ridden Airline during the day…but since gates normally shut at sunset, this is a rare opportunity to ride it at night, with a bunch of other trail lovers!

After the ride hang out at the Gravity Terminal with beverages, fire pit, and music.

(If you’re not yet a member, no problem, you can join beforehand at our website - link in bio - or sign up on site on the day of the ride!)

Time for our annual meeting and elections for the

Time for our annual meeting and elections for the 2025 Board of the Tarheel Trailblazers. Make your voice heard for 2025.

Meeting is this coming Thursday at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, just south of Uptown.

Get there at 6pm for a pre-meeting social and to order dinner.

The meeting will start promptly at 7pm.

We'll recap the year and go over what's in store for 2025 and beyond.

Plenty of parking on site.

🌲💪 Teamwork brought Lake Norman State Park trails back to life after the storm—read on for the full story!

After Hurricane Helene, the Park stepped up as a staging area for storm relief efforts, serving as a base to deploy supplies and aid throughout the state. At that time, the park closed its gates to the public to focus on essential recovery operations and support storm relief.

Lake Norman State Park’s 30+ miles of mountain bike trails—one of the largest trail systems in the area— was also affected and required major cleanup to get ready for riders again. That’s a lot of ground to cover, and a big commitment to maintain, especially after a storm of this magnitude! Helene left the trails impacted by downed trees, erosion, and uprooted sections. 
During the closure, Tarheel Trailblazers volunteers stepped in, clearing dozens of downed trees with hand saws along with tackling other trail repairs. The @ncstateparks staff handled the heavy lifting, clearing over 20 massive trees with chainsaws to help meet the reopening target of November 1st! 🙌 
A HUGE thank you to the NC State Parks staff! Special shoutout to LNSP trail coordinator, @trillwill03 , for organizing and leading workdays, and to the Tarheel Trailblazer Volunteers who dedicated their time and hard work to this effort! 
Next time you see Park Staff or volunteers out at Lake Norman, please give them a BIG thank you for their dedication to keeping these 30+ miles of trails accessible! 🪚💪

In addition to all of the racing and fun activities at Fisher Fest this weekend, we’re excited to announce that @rideskills.bike will be hosting skills clinics on Saturday and Sunday to help beginner to advanced riders level up their skills and improve their confidence on their bike!

In these clinics you will learn MTB fundamentals, pumping through corners and rollers, advanced cornering, and improve control and stability through technical terrain.

So don’t wait, head over to Bike Reg and get signed up! Trailblazer members get discounted pricing and a portion of each registration fee will be donated to the club. See link in bio to register.
